What does a Support Worker do? | He aha te mahi a te Kaimahi Tautoko
This position is responsible for the effective day-to-day management and co-ordination of the corrections portfolio services provided in partnership with the Department of Corrections. You will ensure we provide a quality of service for clients, managing staff through effective leadership and promotion of a supportive, collaborative and positive work environment. The location of this position is ideally Palmerston North or New Plymouth with some flexibility to look at Whanganui with some regional travel required.  This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with occasional on call phone duty scheduled every 10 weeks.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver appropriate quality service, reintegration plans, and support within the requirements of the contractual obligations for the people we support.
  • Build and maintain an engaged, cohesive and high performing team across the services you lead
  • Actively manage services to ensure we maintain and grow market share while also retaining current contracts
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, such as Department of Corrections, Justice Department, Parole Services, NASC, Oranga Tamariki etc
  • Build relationships with the people we support, their families/whanau where appropriate, and supporting people through their rehabilitation journey
  • Ensure the balanced management of funding contracts in your area, to ensure both customer needs and financial requirements are met
  • Evaluating new referrals and participating in panel assessments with internal and external partners
  • Being part of the Intensive Support Services On-Call system
  • Providing support to other Intensive Support Services as required and learning different contracts
  • Providing support and supervision to the team you lead

Who are we looking for? | Ko wai ta tatou e rapu ana
  • 3-5+ years' experience in a service delivery or operations role, preferably within the community services sector
  • Previous leadership experience, with a passion for working collaboratively and developing skills in others
  • Financial and budget management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills, and highly developed emotional intelligence
  • An understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and how these can be applied
  • Know how to stay safe when dealing with complex cases, implement coping strategies, and seek support when necessary
