We’re looking for Resource Consents Planners to join our team in Queenstown and/or Wanaka. Applicants will have You will have a demonstrated knowledge and practical application (2+ years) of the Resource Management Act 1991 and allied legislation.

About the role:
You will be processing resource consent applications (both land use and subdivision) and will be responsible for making sound recommendations on decisions in accordance with the requirements of the Resource Management Act and the District Plans.

Responsibilities of the role:
- Processing new and altered designations and outline plans
- Attending pre-application meetings
- Assisting more senior planners with responding to technical complex queries
- Mentoring more junior members of the team
- Preparing reports on particular planning issues as directed
- The opportunity to prepare and present evidence for Council at hearings

What you'll bring:
You will have a demonstrated knowledge and practical application (2+ years) of the Resource Management Act 1991 and allied legislation, in particular processing and/or making applications for resource consents (both land use and subdivision) and implementing a District Plan.
- Tertiary qualification in planning (e.g., bachelor’s in resource management or urban planning). Related discipline may be considered.
- Membership of the New Zealand Planning Institute or equivalent is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to present topics to your peers, the public, professionals at meetings
