About the role:
This role is all about driving compliance and ensuring the Building Services team operates smoothly within regulatory requirements, council policies, and legislation. You'll be hands-on with audits, inspections, and investigations while managing key compliance information. Beyond that, you'll have the chance to learn and support a variety of dynamic functions within the team, from exemptions and certifications to pool inquiries and liquor licenses, making every day unique and engaging!

You will have at least 3 year experience in the regulatory building field and/or within the building industry along with a demonstrated comprehensive appreciation of the building consenting process.

Responsibilities of the role:
- Conducting on-site audit on buildings that have a current Building Warrant of Fitness within Queenstown Lakes District Council’s remit.
- Providing advice and guidance to the Building Services Team and ensure that within their areas of responsibility the Building Services Unit functions in accordance with the Building Consent Authority manual and the Building Act’s requirements.
- Ensure the Building warrant of Fitness moule of Queenstown Lakes District Council operating system is maintained to provide the best outcome possible.
- To ensure the Building Act 2004 legislative requirements are complied with.
- Looking for opportunities to improve systems process and work practices both within your own position and the organisation.
What you'll bring:
You will have at least 3 year experience in the regulatory building field and/or within the building industry along with a demonstrated comprehensive appreciation of the building consenting process.
To best succeed in this role, you’ll have:
- A diploma (NZQA Level 5) qualification in a relevant field, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Proven experience in a customer service and/or administration role.
- The ability to understand, accurately interpret and apply legislation in a territorial authority specific environment.
- Demonstrated planning and organisational skills with an excellent eye for detail.
- Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal.
